Play and formation templates give you an easy way to create content that has a consistent look to plays and formations made by other authors. When you create a play or formation, you can choose which template you want to use at the bottom of the Add Play/Formation window:
Default
The “Default” template is a light green player with a black border:
Default with Positions
The “Default with Positions” template is a light green player with a black border and a label indicating position. There’s a version for offensive formations:
and one for defensive formations:
The players are out of order as they’re listed with respect to which positions you’ll most likely use starting with four person formations but you can easily choose a new center, move the center or nose tackle to the center of the line of scrimmage, or change any of the labels to suit your needs.
Solid Colors
The “Solid Colors” template gives each player in the formation an easily identifiable color:
This template is useful for teaching new players as it’s easier to tell someone that they’re the blue circle in the play vs. the cornerback or halfback.
When using this template, make sure when adding notes to a player that you indicate their color as the default notes display associates player notes with the player’s label. Something like “BLUE: Run five yards then cut hard towards the sideline.” Or, you can just add your own labels to the player shapes and use both colors and positions to identify the players.
Solid Colors with a Black Border
The “Solid Colors with a Black Border” template is the same as the solid colors template except that each player shape has a black border:
